The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) organised the fifth teaching staff training and study visit for Western Balkan partner HEIs, 14-16 November, 2017 in Vienna, Austria. Within Activity 2.3 of the project, a full day was devoted to the training of Western Balkan partners regarding innovative teaching methods in the classroom. The training was conducted by a professional teacher trainer at BOKU. A second day focused on teaching methods in the laboratories, by visiting the labs of the Institute of Mountain Risk Engineering as well as the Institute of Water Management including the associated outdoor research channel. The participants received explanations on the experimental setups and their use in research and teaching.
The study visit scheduled within Activity 3.2 introduced the participants to the flood protection system of Vienna and showed innovative flood protection measures in the field at the Danube to the East of Vienna, in cooperation with the Austrian Danube River management authority „viadonau“.
